They provide about a quarter of the revenue to the state treasury.

Russia's federal budget revenues from oil and gas in October sagged by almost 27% year-on-year, followed by data from the Finance Ministry.

The ministry said oil and gas revenues, which provide about a quarter of the state treasury's receipts, totaled 888.6 billion rubles last month. Compared to September, collections from oil and gas increased by 52.5% due to the payment of additional income tax (AIT) on oil production in the third quarter.

Without taking into account the VAT paid quarterly, the amount of oil and gas tax collections in October was less than in September - a decrease of 21.7 billion rubles, or 3.7% compared to the previous month.

At the end of ten months, oil and gas revenues decreased by 21.4% compared to the same period last year to 7.5 trillion rubles.

The Finance Ministry initially expected to collect 10.94 trillion rubles of oil and gas revenues this year, of which 1.8 trillion rubles were to be added to the National Welfare Fund (NWF).

But falling oil prices and the strengthening ruble forced the authorities to reduce the projected amount of revenues from the sale of energy carriers by almost a quarter of the plan - to 8.65 trillion rubles.

Last year, the federal budget received 11.13 trillion rubles from oil and gas.
