Poland Will Supply Slovakia With American Gas

Poland is going to supply Slovakia with American gas to replace Russia's energy resources.

The announcement was made by the presidents of Slovakia and Poland Peter Pellegrini and Karol Navrotsky.

The Slovak president emphasized that his country is under pressure to give up gas supplies from Russia as soon as possible.

He added that he had discussed the issue with the leaders of Poland and the United States. He said that from a technical point of view, Slovakia "is in a very difficult situation."

"Therefore, I am very happy to accept the proposal of the Polish president and the actions of the Polish government, which will make it possible to provide alternative gas supplies to Slovakia through the interconnector of our systems," Pellegrini said.

Nawrocki said that Poland will soon become a hub for liquefied gas supplies from the United States to countries in the region.

He recalled the LNG terminal in Swinoujscie and expressed hope for the soonest completion of the construction of a floating terminal in the Baltic Sea.

"Therefore, we, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, face an important task in which we must be united: as the president (of Slovakia - ed.) said - complete independence from Russian gas," Navrotsky emphasized.
