The missile is capable of carrying nuclear warheads to a distance of more than 12,000 kilometers.

The US military has conducted a test launch of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile.

The press service of Vandenberg Air Force Base reports.

The Minuteman III missile without a warhead was launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on November 5, 2025. The test was designed to verify the reliability, combat readiness and accuracy of the ICBM system, which is a key element of U.S. national defense.

The ICBM traveled about 4,200 miles (approximately 6,750 kilometers) to the Ronald Reagan Test Site on Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean.

Specialists from the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command collected critical data using radar, optical sensors and telemetry systems to analyze the flight characteristics.

It should be noted that Minuteman III is an American intercontinental ballistic missile that has been in service since the early 1970s and is a key element of the U.S. nuclear triad.

It can carry nuclear warheads to a distance of more than 12,000 kilometers and hit targets with high accuracy.

Despite its age, Minuteman III is constantly being modernized: control, guidance and safety systems are being updated.
