This payment will be the fifth regular disbursement of support under the EU Fund for Ukraine.
The European Union has approved the allocation of more than €1.8bn to Ukraine. This payment will be the fifth regular allocation of support under the EU Fund for Ukraine. This is reported on the official website of the Council of the European Union.
According to the statement, the allocation of this amount means that Ukraine has fulfilled nine mandatory steps to receive the tranche. "The funding is primarily aimed at strengthening Ukraine's macro-financial stability and supporting the continued functioning of public administration," the statement reads.
The amount in the Fund to support Ukraine is up to €50 billion in grants and loans for the period from 2024 to 2027. The funds will be spent on "the recovery, reconstruction and modernization of Ukraine." Since the fund's launch, €6 billion has been allocated in bridge financing, €1.89 billion in advance financing. Ukraine has already received four tranches of €4.2 billion, €4.1 billion, €3.5 billion and €3.2 billion respectively.
The creation of a plan to help Ukraine in July 2025 was reported by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. The initial capital of the fund will amount to €220 million, and by 2026 the European allies expect to attract €500 million.
The European Commission-backed Ukraine Reconstruction Fund was created in cooperation with the European Investment Bank, France, Germany, Italy and Poland. It will contribute to the development of the private equity ecosystem in Ukraine by attracting new capital and uniting market players, von der Leyen said.
The EU has allocated €165 billion to support Ukraine over the past three years, and as of 2025, funding from Brussels covers 84 percent of Kiev's budget expenditures, von der Leyen said.
