In Hrodna two bloggers, who collected money for the treatment of a seriously ill child, were detained on suspicion of fraud. The details were told in the Interior Ministry.

Figurants of the investigation were a 17-year-old Hrodna resident and his 37-year-old girlfriend. The Interior Ministry said that the couple collected funds for the treatment of a seriously ill child.

"Subscribers were assigned numbers of participants of the drawing for 10 rubles, the prizes of which were smartphones or a car. The organizers claimed that only a small part of the money received would be used to buy gifts, and the rest would be donated to the boy's treatment! From the collected 1.5 million rubles, according to the figurehead, only 200 thousand were given to the child's mother, 315 thousand were spent on gifts for the participants of the stream", - reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The rest of the sum - about a million rubles - the defendants "spent on a beautiful life: trips to premium tours to the Maldives and the UAE, renting elite housing, gambling and other entertainment," the ministry said.

Investigators have opened a criminal case for fraud on a particularly large scale. The detainees face up to 12 years in prison.
