AFU drones attacked substations on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Power supply to more than eight settlements has been lost in Kursk Region after Ukrainian drones attacked a substation, Governor Alexander Khinshtein said. According to him, Rylsk, the fifth most populous city in the region, was left without light. According to official data, on January 1, 2024, about 15 thousand people lived there. There is also no electricity in Glushkovsky and Korenevsky districts, which are powered by the Rylsk substation. Khinshtein specified that the shutdown affected more than 16 thousand consumers, writes The Moscow Times.

Later, the governor reported the defeat of another substation - in the village of Belaya. As a result of the drone strike on the evening of November 3, "the fuses on the transformer caught fire," and power supply was lost in seven settlements in Belovo district, Khinshtein said. There are no dead or injured, he said. Emergency crews are switching consumers to a backup scheme.

The 41 MVA electrical substation belongs to Kurskenergo. Before that, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked it on October 27. At that time, outbuildings located nearby caught fire; the authorities claimed that the facility itself was not damaged. On October 24, the substation was hit four times. The eastern microdistrict of Rylsk and the Oktyabrskoye settlement were left without light, Hinshtein reported. Rylsk is located on the right bank of the Seim River, 124 kilometers southeast of Kursk.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky threatened to stage a blackout in the Kursk and Belgorod regions if the Russian military continued to attack power facilities in his country. "Maybe they've had enough of staying in comfort there in Belgorod if that's what they're doing. I guess it's absolutely fair. We told them: if they want to arrange blackouts for us, we will do the same," Zelensky warned.
