Belarusian Sole Proprietors Were Given A Choice

The number of individual entrepreneurs (IE) continues to decline in Belarus. This follows from the data of the National Statistics Committee. "Zerkalo" tells the details.

November 1, there were 214,945 individual entrepreneurs in Belarus. It's 11% less than a year earlier.

If we compare the situation by regions, Minsk voblast lost the most IEs during this period - 17.3%. In Hrodna voblast, the figure decreased by 13.3%, while in Minsk - by 10.5%. At the same time, none of the regions has not recorded growth in the number of IEs.

Of the industries over the past year, the most IEs lost the industry "information and communication" - 24.9% (November 2025 to the same month of 2024).

Reminder, the authorities have stopped registration of IEs for certain types of activities since October 1 last year. At the same time, some of the existing entrepreneurs need to either transfer to a legal entity or close down by the end of 2025.

In the meantime, IEs continue to cede the market to retail chains. Thus, the retail turnover of individual entrepreneurs and individuals in January-October this year amounted to Br3 billion 723.4 million. This amount is 4% less in comparable prices than in the same period of 2024.

In January-October this year, individual entrepreneurs and individuals accounted for 4.4% of retail turnover, the rest - for organizations. A year earlier this indicator was at the level of 5.1%.
