The blow came from the starboard side.
The Russian "shadow navy" tanker Virat, which caught fire yesterday, November 28, after explosions near the Bosporus, was attacked again this morning.
This reports the press service of the Turkish Ministry of Transport.
"The Virat vessel was attacked again this morning, with minor damage on the starboard side. There is no fire on the vessel and the health condition of the crew is satisfactory. Rescue teams are waiting at a safe distance from the vessel for safety reasons," the ministry said.
The ministry also said that 25 people from the tanker Kairos, where the explosion caused a fire, were safely evacuated by Turkish teams from the General Directorate of Coastal Security.
The fire on the open deck was completely extinguished during the night, while extinguishing and cooling work continues in the closed areas.
It is noted that Turkish experts from the environmental unit and diving teams are on standby in the region for inspection.
Explosions on tankers of the "shadow fleet" of Russia
We recall that yesterday, November 28, in the Black Sea near the Bosporus Strait there were explosions on two tankers, belonging to the "shadow fleet" of Russia - Kairos and Virat. The vessels caught fire as a result of the explosions.
Turkey's Ministry of Transport specified that the 274-meter tanker Kairos exploded and burst into flames while it was on its way from Egypt to the Russian port of Novorossiysk. The incident occurred 28 nautical miles off the Turkish coast.
The Turkish Transport Ministry said the cause of the fire was an external impact. The Kairos, which was traveling under the flag of Gambia without cargo, could have been hit by a mine. There is a risk of its sinking.
Another tanker, Virat, suffered an explosion about 35 nautical miles off the coast of Turkey, just east in the Black Sea.
The Virat had 20 people on board, whose condition is satisfactory. There are reports that the vessel could have been attacked by sea drones.
