A Majority Of The French Were In Favor Of Introducing Voluntary Military Service

The overwhelming majority of French citizens would support the introduction of voluntary military service, which is to be announced by President Emmanuel Macron in the coming days.

According to "European Truth", this is evidenced by a poll by sociological firm Elabe commissioned by BFMTV.

According to the poll, almost three quarters (73%) of French citizens surveyed support the principle of creating a voluntary military service - in particular, 22% "very supportive" of the idea, and 51% simply support it.

On the contrary, 9% of respondents are "very opposed" to voluntary military service, and 18% - simply against it.

The least favorable to the introduction of a new model of military service in France people aged 25-34 years. In this age group, 60% support the idea, while 40% oppose it.

In comparison, more than eight out of ten French respondents aged 65 and over agree with the idea.
