To the hybrid actions of the regime.

Lithuania is pushing the European Union to impose new sanctions against Lukashenko's regime for its "hybrid actions and threats." This was announced by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys.

"The most important thing is to introduce a new criterion into the EU sanctions regime, to define on what basis sanctions are imposed on Belarus. We seek to include hybrid actions and threats, which the EU does not have now," he said.

The measures, which Lithuania intends to seek against Minsk, include restrictions on imports of nitrogen fertilizers, in relation to the aviation sector and other economic activities, Budrys explained.

In addition, he proposed to ban investments in Belarusian free economic zones and limit audit and IT services provided by EU companies to Belarusian companies. "We want all this to be banned by the EU sanctions, including tourism services, no matter how it sounds in the geopolitical context," said the foreign minister. These actions of Vilnius are aimed at combating balloons from Belarus ferrying contraband, the minister explained.

The EU is already preparing the 20th package of sanctions against Russia and Belarus. They were discussed at a meeting between Lithuanian Finance Minister Kristupas Vaitekunas and European Commissioner for Financial Services and Savings and Investment Union Maria Luis Albuquerque. The EU needs to strengthen sanctions against Minsk, "bringing them in line with those in place against Russia and introducing additional restrictions," Vaitekunas said. The measures against Minsk are at an early stage, Albuquerque specified.
