It is about Donbass, the size of the army and joining NATO.
U.S. President Donald Trump says progress has been made in talks with Ukraine over ending the war, but Kiev has rejected three key points of the U.S. peace plan, a senior Ukrainian source told CNN. He said Ukraine was still not ready to hand over parts of unoccupied Donbass to Russia, limit the size of its army to 600,000 troops, and refuse to join NATO. "It would be very wrong to say that we now have a version [of the peace plan] that Ukraine accepts," the TV channel's interlocutor said.
He noted that the US has proposed making part of Donbass a demilitarized zone under Russian rule, but the wording on the territorial issue has not yet been agreed upon. Kiev is also demanding a revision of the size limit for the army and convincing Washington that refusing NATO membership would set a "bad precedent" for Russia's influence on the alliance, "of which it is not even a member," the CNN interlocutor emphasized. In turn, the TV channel draws attention to the fact that the three points of disagreement are in line with Russia's requirements to end the war.
