Russian authorities have not yet confirmed the drone attack on Cheboksary. However, the Russians claim that debris from the drones allegedly landed on a residential high-rise building, where a fire started on the upper floors.
What is known about the VNIIR-Progress plant in Cheboksary
VNIIR-Progress is part of the ABS Electro association and is considered a key manufacturer of the Kometa series of antennas, as Militarny previously reported. These antennas are used in Russian drones, in particular attack drones like Shahed, as well as in cruise missiles like Kalibr and Iskander-M.
The antennas produced by the enterprise protect Russian army drones from Ukrainian electronic warfare equipment.
The factory has already been attacked earlier. So, on July 5 this year, drones hit the production shop of the enterprise, which caused a fire.
