Since January, the European Union has purchased $200 billion worth of energy from the United States.
Over the past year, the European Union has significantly increased the share of liquefied natural gas (LNG) purchased from the United States. This was announced today, November 24, at a briefing in Brussels by European Trade Commissioner Maros Šefčovič.
- Since January, the EU has purchased $200 billion worth of energy from the US. The U.S. share of LNG imports has increased from 45 to 60 percent this year alone and is expected to grow even more thanks to a recently signed long-term contract worth $80 billion," the European Commissioner said.
Shefcovic added that EU member states are also cooperating with the U.S. on nuclear technology.
- And we have already noted investment projects worth almost $130 billion," he said.
