Lithuanian Prime Minister: If The Situation With Belarus Does Not Change, We Will Close The Border Again

The Lukashenko regime continues to launch weather probes with contraband.

In connection with a further prolonged flow of smuggled weather probes from Belarus to Lithuania, Prime Minister Inga Ruginenė does not rule out the possibility of re-closing border crossings with that country, writes Delfi.lt.

"As soon as we opened (border crossings), we saw positive signals from the other side of the border. But as soon as the situation changes, we will already have the right and the opportunity to consider the toughest other measures. For today, we need to meet and discuss all the actions we are taking. Perhaps we will close the border and a decision will be made if the situation does not improve," Ruginenė told reporters on Monday.

The border with Belarus has been closed due to weather probes from Belarus by the Lithuanian government since October 26. It was planned to be closed until November 30, but after the opening of two crossings on the Polish-Belarusian border, the Lithuanian government decided to open the border from November 20.

The Vilnius airport was closed twice last night and overnight due to weather probes.
