Shaturskaya GRES Is On Fire Near Moscow

Drones bombed a power plant that provides the Russian capital with heat and light.

In the city of Shatura, Moscow region, a power plant is on fire. At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry reports about the shooting down of two drones over the Moscow region.

Residents of the Moscow region reported in publicks about a large fire.

It later became known that a state district power plant (SDPP) in the town of Shatura was on fire.

Pro-Ukrainian Telegtam channel Exilenova+ published video and photos of the fire.

It is also reported that Zhukovsky airport has suspended operations.

The authorities have not confirmed the attack on the power plant, with no official comment as of this morning.

In the meantime, the fire continues.

The Lenin State District Power Plant in Shaturskaya is one of the oldest power plants in Russia. It was built in 1925. Initially it worked on peat, now the main fuel is natural gas.

The installed electric capacity is 1500 MW. The station is involved in providing electricity and heat for the Moscow region.
