Belarusians Continue To Be Summoned To Submit Fingerprints

The police department doesn't know why.

Belarus continues to call men to submit fingerprints at the police department. Recall, the first reports about it appeared in October this year.

Before that, the National Legal Portal published a bill, which significantly expands the scope of mandatory fingerprint registration. However, it has not been adopted yet.

A reader of "Salidarnastsi" Vyacheslav (name changed) said that the other day he had to leave work to take fingerprints at the police department.

- I read once that they call those who have a residence permit of another country. But I don't have it and I live permanently in Belarus. I have not served in the army, I have a military ticket. It's true, I'm fit for non-peaceful times," says the man.

Vyacheslav didn't receive a notice, he was asked to come by phone.

- They called, as I later learned, starting from the military commission, ending with the criminal investigation. But I don't pick up the phone when unfamiliar numbers call. So they reached me through my father - they called him, and he called me. He said they were looking for me, they wanted me to take biometrics. When the next time they dialed - I picked up.

I consulted at work - they said to go, there is nothing wrong with it. However, none of my colleagues, friends and acquaintances had been summoned yet.

In the police department there was no one except me. They gave me a sheet with my data and pasted my fingerprints on it. They also asked me why I was turning myself in. They were strange, they didn't know why.
