How Russia adjusts its food on the Belarusian market.

The Belarusian authorities can't find a place to rejoice over the harvest that has fallen on the country. They are preparing additional bank boxes to deposit a record $9.2 billion. They should be brought by food exports this year. However, alas, at the same time the deposits for a record $3.5 billion will have to be emptied. They will have to be paid for the Russian harvest, which comes to Belarusian meat processing plants in the form of pork and to Belarusian stores in the form of oil, macaroni and dumplings, writes planbmedia.io.

Faster, higher, stronger...

Belarus is still ahead in this mutual turnover of harvests. But in terms of the pace - it is already losing.

According to the results of last year, the growth of Belarusian food exports to Russia amounted to 15.5%. This year the figures are more modest. At the end of the first quarter, it added only 9.7%.

And then the responsible authorities simply stopped sharing reports. Perhaps because the successes of the Belarusian agro-industrial complex and processing pale before the growing expansion of Russian competitors in the food market of Belarus.

Already in 2024, the export of Russian food to Belarus for the first time reached $3 billion.

This year, the growth continues.

According to the federal center "Agroexport", at the end of five months of 2025, food supplies from Russia to Belarus increased by 21% compared to the same period. At the end of eight months - already by 27%.

The reports of "Agroexport" about the success of Russian exports are mostly about the success in conquering the Belarusian food market. According to PlanB., Belarus is the main importer of products made in Russia. Their volumes are growing along with the assortment, having penetrated even such "holy of holies" Belarusian niches as dairy products and food salt.

They've made a mess

The domestic pig breeding industry has not managed to recover after the outbreak of African swine fever, which destroyed a significant part of the population in the early 2010s. Another part was wiped out by laziness when sanctions were imposed on Russia in 2014. Polish and French carcasses intended for Russia started to be processed by Belarusian meat processing plants in order to feed not only Belarusians but also Russians in the form of sausages.

It did not last long. Russia, on the contrary, faced with sanctions, not only revived the industry, but also became a major exporter. Not only pork, but also pork products. According to the results of the last year, pork became the second after rape seeds product of the Russian food export to our country.

This year Belarus is also its main buyer. And the Belarusian consumer is also the main foreign consumer of Russian dumplings and pasta.
