The checkpoints will open tomorrow.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Lithuania at its meeting on November 19 decided to open two checkpoints on the border with Belarus earlier than planned. This is reported by LRT.

The checkpoints will start operating on Thursday, November 20.

"Taking into account the decisions of the National Security Commission of November 18 this year that circumstances have changed and the restrictions on crossing the state border, established by the Lithuanian government decree of October 29, 2025 (...), are no longer necessary to ensure internal security, it is advisable to remove the restrictions on movement through the Lithuanian checkpoints, established by the Lithuanian Government of October 29, 2025 (...). An exception was made for diplomats and Lithuanian and EU citizens returning home. The decision was taken in response to the appearance of weather probes in the country's airspace, which Lithuanian authorities said are used for smuggling and pose a threat to civil aviation.
