On suspicion of murdering a child in Moscow's Balashikha, his mother has been detained, the Russian Investigative Committee reported on November 17 in its Telegram channel.

Investigators believe she killed the boy in her apartment and then threw the body fragments into the Golyanovsky pond in Moscow. Law enforcers seized physical evidence and knives.

"During the interrogation with the investigator, the woman confessed to the murder of the child, having written a confession of guilt, but the motives for the murder could not explain," the report says.

On November 16, a backpack with a child's head was found in the Golyanovsky pond in Moscow. There were strangulation marks on the boy's neck. More than two days had passed since his death. Divers examined the pond and found no other remains of the child. The media wrote that the first suspect was a man about 180 centimeters tall and of medium build. On the night of November 14, he was allegedly seen by local residents. According to them, the man threw a package into the pond.
