The expert named the ideal scenario for the end of the war.

Swedish-American economist and diplomat Anders Aslund believes that the end of the war in Ukraine could happen because of a coup in Russia, which would lead to a change of power. According to him, most wars do not end through negotiations. He said this in an interview with the "Espresso" television channel.

Aslund recalled the example of World War I, which ended not with a peace agreement but with revolutions in Germany:

"This is basically the ideal scenario for ending the current war - the fall of Putin as a result of an internal coup in Moscow. And this is what Putin is obviously most afraid of."

The expert noted that the key moment will be the realization by the Russian elite that Putin's actions are against the country's interests: "Economic growth has actually stopped. Inflation is 8-10% and is likely to rise further. Travel opportunities have sharply declined. The economy is stagnating both financially and technologically. Putin is hurting his own people, and the only question is when enough people realize this and decide it's time for him to go."
