Axios: Switzerland Secured US Duty Cuts With Personal Gifts To Trump

The President of the United States was presented with a Rolex watch and a bar of gold.

Switzerland sent a delegation of industrial businessmen to the United States with gifts to placate U.S. President Donald Trump and push for lower duties, Axios reported.

The gifts in question include a Rolex desk watch and a 1 kg gold bar. The bullion was presented to Trump during the delegation's visit on November 4, and was marked with the numbers 45 and 47 in honor of his presidential terms.

The duties against Switzerland, as well as against 64 other countries, Trump imposed in early August. For Switzerland, the tariffs then amounted to 39%, one of the highest rates in the world and the highest in Europe.
