Ukraine To Receive 6 Billion Euros From Proceeds Of Frozen Russian Assets

The decision was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Ukraine will receive a new tranche from the European Union in the amount of 6 billion euros from the proceeds of frozen assets of the Russian Federation.

This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the EC press service reported.

"In one day alone last week, Russia launched more than 40 ballistic and cruise missiles and almost 500 drones targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Two major power plants were destroyed," the European Commission chief said.

She also emphasized that already today the EU will allocate almost 6 billion euros from the ERA loan and fund for Ukraine.

"Europe will continue to strengthen Ukraine's resistance. We will repair the damage caused by Russian strikes. We will stabilize Ukraine's power grid - exporting more than 2 gigawatts of electricity to Ukraine. And we will protect critical infrastructure. This winter will determine the future of the war," she added.

Ukraine's international partners continue to look for ways to cover the state budget deficit for 2025. One of the options being actively discussed is the creation of a so-called "reparation loan," which would allow frozen Russian assets to be used to support Ukraine.

With this background, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Europe to use Russian assets and overcome the disagreements that have arisen,

Despite the delay in making the relevant decisions, there are no critical risks for state finances, as the budget needs for the current year have already been met.

The European Commission is meanwhile working on a new plan for financial assistance to Ukraine, details of which are expected soon.
