Because of a corruption scandal.
Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk has written a letter of resignation from her post. She announced this on Facebook.
"There were no violations of legislation within the framework of my professional activity. Such facts cannot exist in principle. Regarding speculations about my personal relations - any speculations on this topic are inappropriate," the minister wrote.
Hrinchuk's resignation is due to the fact that from the "Mindich tapes" (NABU records made during the investigation of probable corruption in Energoatom) it became known that before her appointment to the post of Minister, she was probably interviewed by one of the suspects.
This fact is mentioned in the materials of the pre-trial investigation as evidence that this suspect had previously influenced personnel policy and officials in the energy sector, writes liga.net.
On November 12, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that the energy minister (as well as another figure in the tapes, Justice Minister German Galushchenko) could not remain in office due to loss of confidence.
Grinchuk was appointed as Ukraine's energy minister on July 17, 2025. Prior to that, she was Ukraine's minister of environmental protection and natural resources for almost a year, and served as deputy energy minister from 2023-2024.
She said that the post was never an end in itself for her and thanked Zelensky, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada for the opportunity to work in favor of the state.
