The Harvest Is Over

But agrarians are rejoicing early.
The crop resisted - every year it limped, stumbled and in every way sabotaged the tasks set for it by the authorities. But this year it could not stand it, and still met expectations. Now it is his own fault. Lukashenko proposes to make the harvest of 2025 the benchmark by which the results of all years will be evaluated from now on, writes planbmedia.io.
Harvest is defeated
It is a strange idea for a country of risky agriculture to consider everything that is not a record a failure. But Lukashenko was categorical today, presenting state awards to the front-runners of the agro-industrial complex.
"We need to stop crying and lamenting that we don't have enough people in the countryside. We have enough of everything. And this year is evidence of that. It has been a very difficult year. I can't remember such a difficult and tense period in my life, which was this year in terms of agriculture and processing industry," he said. - It's been a very tough year. So? This year, despite my demanding and picky nature (such a peasant), I did not just notice, we all see it, that you have worked much better than in previous years. Much better, despite what was going on around you.
Lukashenko rejoiced for the results "better than ever." Although he recalled the "unacceptable things, extremely negative" he had recently discovered in Vitebsk region and in the south of Belarus.
"This year's indicators should become a criterion for evaluating future periods. It will be important for me that you have reached the indicators of this year's level. Because it was the highest in these indicators," said the chief agrarian. - Most importantly, we have not theoretically achieved these indicators, but in practice. So why not compare us with this year? That's why we have reached this level at the peak and will further compare and evaluate ourselves and, above all, agriculture with the level of this year.
On the (winding) road to new records
Lukashenko said that by the end of 2025, the revenue from exports of food and agricultural raw materials is expected to be more than $9 billion. The target for 2026 is $9.5 billion. And by the end of the five-year plan - already 12 billion dollars. Despite the sanctions. "Thank God, I managed to turn you away from these sanctions and not to cry about sanctions," praised Lukashenko.
In 2025, Belarus will harvest more than 11 million tons of grain, including corn and rapeseed in bunker weight. In addition, more than 5 million tons of sugar beets, about 900 thousand tons of potatoes, about 600 thousand tons of vegetables will be harvested.
"The government promises that we'll cook soup and borscht from Belarusian inexpensive and tasty "buraka", "tsybuli" and cabbage. There should be enough for everyone. And there has been enough for a long time, we just need to manage it properly," assured Lukashenko. Apparently, he remembered the potato epic of this year.
Last year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food also reported about a million tons. And joked merrily about those who said that there might not be enough potatoes. And when it was not enough, he did not want to admit for a long time how much potatoes were actually harvested. He confessed only in the spring. It turned out that in fact instead of a million harvested 750 thousand tons.
But before the spring is still far away. To the next years, when it will be necessary to jump the bar of the current year - even more so. So for now the commander is enjoying the won battle.
"We have stood our ground," said Lukashenko. - In this battle for the harvest we fought shoulder to shoulder: we sent combined teams from neighboring regions to the fields, attracted military personnel, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, all concerned people.
And reminded that he instructed to put employees of various organizations and enterprises at the wheel of expensive domestic machinery "during the period of the most active agricultural work. Why this employees and how the main place of work will cope without them - is not specified. However, if someone from the Administration of the Chief Agrarian Officer is put at the helm of the combine harvester, it may turn out to be interesting.
