Massive Campaign To Recruit Reservists Has Begun In The Russian Federation

In many constituent entities of the Russian Federation, a campaign has been launched for the mass recruitment of volunteers for reservist units that will be involved in the defense of critical facilities. This is reported by "Kommersant". According to the newspaper, the campaign has begun in at least 20 regions.

A law was recently passed allowing reservists to be called up for special training camps and used to protect facilities not only in wartime, but also in peacetime (formally, the current time is considered peacetime, since officially the fighting in Ukraine is considered a "special operation").

For the duration of the training camp, the reservists, who are supposed to be used primarily to fight against drones, will receive the status of military personnel with all the necessary benefits.

Recruitment of reservists is going on in particular in the Leningrad region, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Nizhny Novgorod region, and regions bordering Ukraine. All these regions have recently been subjected to drone attacks. According to the law, reservists can also be used to fight saboteurs or be involved in evacuating the population.

Reservists are people who voluntarily sign a contract on staying in the mobilization reserve of the Ministry of Defense. For signing the contract themselves, they are entitled to payments and benefits. The new law provides that they can be called up for training camps for up to six months during the year. Reservists are entitled to payments for the period of participation in training camps while maintaining their average earnings at their main place of work, and in case of death of a reservist, his family is entitled to payments and benefits similar to those established for military personnel.
