Ukraine Has A Plan A And B To Protect The Energy Sector

Zelensky revealed the details.

Despite the lack of air defense, Ukraine will continue to defend the energy system. There are two action plans in case of attacks on the gas infrastructure: own production and imports.

According to RBC-Ukraine, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said this during a meeting with journalists.

"Energy must be defended, and we will defend it. There are not enough air defense systems. With interceptors, you basically know everything. Additional funding is constantly available and there is an increase," the head of state said.

He emphasized that it is not only about ensuring a sufficient number of interceptors, but also about expanding drone launch systems. According to him, these systems have already proved their effectiveness, but the main task remains to increase their number.

"Interceptors are not bad at shooting down. For example, the line in Chernigov region. There was a report at the Stavka on one of the strikes - 36 "Shaheds" flew in, 22 were shot down by interceptors. That is, in general, the number of shootdowns is increasing, the number of systems will increase. We are working on it," Zelensky noted.

And added that Ukraine is ready to protect and restore the energy system after enemy attacks, and the threats to the energy and gas infrastructure are clear.

"We have a plan "A" and there is a plan "B". In plan B, if there is a strong attack on the entire gas infrastructure, we understand that we then have imports. We understand the volume and the cost of the associated imports. That's plan "B." Plan A is when we use our production more," the Ukrainian president explained.
