All hostages will be released.
US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of the United States' peace plan.
He announced this in a Truth Social.
"I am proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of our peace plan," the post said.
The US president said this means that all hostages will be released very soon and Israel will withdraw its troops to the agreed line "as a first step toward a lasting, lasting and peaceful peace."
"This is a great day for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, all neighboring countries and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt and Turkey who worked with us to make this historic and unprecedented event a reality," Trump wrote.
Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari confirmed the US president's information, but added that details of the Gaza deal would be announced later.
"The mediators announced that an agreement was reached tonight on all provisions and mechanisms for implementing the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which will lead to an end to the war, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, as well as the arrival of humanitarian aid," he told X.
In the meantime, there are media reports that a peace deal (apparently a full-fledged one) will be signed as early as today, October 9, in Egypt. And some publications indicate that this will happen at 12:00 noon local time.
The Times of Israel writes that based on the words of two sources, Hamas will release all living hostages on Saturday.
Also after Trump's post, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke and said that "with God's help, we will bring them all home."

Hamas confirmed the deal had been reached and said it appreciated the efforts of "brotherly mediators" in Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, as well as those of U.S. President Donald Trump.
"We announce that an agreement has been reached that involves ending the war in the Gaza Strip, withdrawing occupation troops, delivering humanitarian aid and exchanging prisoners," the group was quoted as saying by Al Mayadeen.
Also according to this media outlet, Trump guarantees an end to the war and an initial withdrawal of 70% of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip, followed by a full withdrawal.

An unnamed US official said in comments to Axios that the war in Gaza is over.
"The war in Gaza is over. The hostages will be released 72 hours after the Israeli cabinet approves the deal. The release is expected to happen by Monday," the U.S. official said.
In addition, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he would "convene the government today to approve the agreement and bring all of our precious kidnapped people home."
Axios writes that 20 of the 48 Israeli hostages kidnapped by Hamas are believed to still be alive. Israel in turn agreed to release 250 Palestinians serving life sentences in Israeli prisons and 1,700 Palestinians detained by the Israel Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip since October 7.

Trump clarified in an interview with Fox News that the hostage exchange will likely take place on Monday, October 13.
He also said Middle Eastern countries would help rebuild Gaza, but did not specify which countries.
"We believe that Gaza will be a much safer place and it will rebuild, and other countries in the region will help rebuild it because they have tremendous wealth and they want to make it happen. We will help them succeed and keep the peace," the US president said.
