Atlantic Council: Kremlin Rejects Trump's Generosity

It's time to speak the language of strength with Putin.
US President Donald Trump is facing the failure of his "peace through concessions" strategy. After months of trying to convince Putin to make peace by offering favorable terms and urging Kiev to compromise, the Russian leader has responded with a new offensive and increased missile strikes on Ukrainian cities, writes Atlantic Council (translated by Charter97.org).
Now Washington's rhetoric has changed. Trump calls Russia a "paper tiger" and says Ukraine is capable of regaining all its territories. This turn, according to analysts, could mean a shift from diplomatic attempts to a policy of pressure.
Despite recognizing the mistakes of previous US presidents, Trump has long avoided decisive steps. But failed negotiations and growing irritation in the White House have reportedly led to a revised approach. Washington is considering expanded intelligence support for Ukraine and the possible transfer of Tomahawk cruise missiles.
Experts believe that to achieve real peace, Trump needs to demonstrate to Moscow a willingness to take action, not just statements. Russia is confident that the US will tire of supporting Ukraine, so it is in no hurry to compromise.
If Trump convinces the Kremlin that he does not intend to give up on Kiev and is ready to defend Ukraine's independence, Moscow might go for negotiations. After a series of unsuccessful offers and escalation by Russia, many in Washington are convinced that the time has come to speak to Putin in the language of force - the only one he understands.
