Ukraine Launched One Of The Most Massive Strikes Against Russia On Putin's Birthday

Ukraine's armed forces (AFU) staged one of the most massive drone attacks on Russia on Russian President Vladimir Putin's birthday, The Moscow Times reported.
On the night of October 7, 184 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones were "intercepted and destroyed" over Russian territory, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The most drones were shot down over the Kursk (62), Belgorod (31), Nizhny Novgorod (30) and Voronezh (18) regions. Drones were also destroyed over Lipetsk, Kaluga, Tula, Rostov, Ryazan, Bryansk, Orel regions, over occupied Crimea and the waters of the Black Sea.
Another wave of drones followed in the morning. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, 25 drones were shot down between 7 and 8 o'clock, most of them over the waters of the Black Sea. Another six - over the Nizhny Novgorod and three - over the Moscow regions. Thus, in total, the AFU attacked Russia with 209 drones in nine hours. This is one of the most massive Ukrainian drone raids during the entire war. The day before, the military department reported the destruction of 251 drones on the night of October 6, but 62 of them were intercepted over the Black Sea. The record number of drones fired at targets in Russia was recorded on March 11, 2025 - then the Russian military department reported the destruction of 337 devices.
The consequences of the night attack were reported by the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov. In Stary Oskol, an apartment building and 20 cars were damaged as a result of falling debris, no one was injured. The head of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin said of the attack on the Dzerzhinsk industrial zone. "There was a fall of debris on the territory of one of the enterprises, no significant damage to the industrial infrastructure has been recorded," Nikitin said. There were also no casualties.
In the Voronezh region, a downed drone damaged the networks of a boiler house and a private house. "According to preliminary data, there are no casualties," said Governor Alexander Gusev. In the Lipetsk region's Elets, a car and a private house were damaged in the attack, no one was hurt, said Governor Igor Artamonov. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported the destruction of one drone flying toward the capital. He specified that specialists of emergency services are working at the site of falling debris.
Overnight at the airports of Volgograd, Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod and Yaroslavl imposed temporary restrictions on the release and reception of aircraft. In addition, in the morning, restrictions were imposed at airports in Sochi and Gelendzhik.
On October 7, Putin celebrates his birthday. He will turn 73 years old in 2025.
