Drones Attacked The Nizhny Novgorod Region Of Russia: Explosions Were Heard Near The Refinery In Kstovo

A fire broke out.

On the night of October 5, explosions were heard in the Russian Federation's Nizhny Novgorod region. Locals complained about drone attacks and loud explosions, writes OBOZ.UA.

The target of the attack was probably an oil refinery in the town of Kstovo: a fire was spotted near the enterprise. The footage was published by local publics.

Russians started writing in local chat rooms about the "drone danger", air defense work and explosions in Kstovo even after 02:30 a.m.

They counted explosions (some wrote about at least four) in "the area of the industrial zone" and expressed hope that it flew "not to the plant".

The network also appeared footage of a fire, as stated, in the area of the local oil refinery - Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez. This, in particular, was pointed out in the Telegram channel Exilenova+.

This enterprise is located almost 1,700 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. It has a capacity of 17 million tons of oil per year. This refinery is called the fourth largest in the Russian Federation.

The Nizhegorodsky refinery in Kstovo has already been visited by Ukrainian drones more than once. Attacks were reported in March 2024, January and September 2025.
