The U.S. president described what he received in response.

U.S. leader Donald Trump says he has agreed to cut duties on Chinese goods by 10%, bringing the total U.S. levy level to 47%.

This is reported by NBC News.

Besides the duty cuts, the two sides "reached conclusions on many very important issues," though no trade agreement was announced by Trump.

China in turn, which recently resumed buying U.S. soybeans after months of boycott, will purchase "large, enormous amounts of soybeans and other agricultural products" from the States.

The White House chief also said Beijing would not create "any obstacles" to the export of rare earth metals needed to produce advanced technology and would delay the imposition of export controls for a year.

While speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One after departing South Korea, Trump called his meeting with Si Jinping "amazing" and rated it "12 out of a possible 10 points."

"He is an outstanding leader of a very powerful country," the US president said of Xi.
