Batal Bigvava ("Balu"), commander of the Pyatnashka international brigade fighting on the side of Russia, has died in the war with Ukraine.

His funeral was attended by "president" Badra Gunba in unrecognized Abkhazia on October 1, local media reported.

The Pyatnashka is an armed formation that has been fighting on the side of Russia-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine since 2014. Its members are accused of a number of serious crimes: looting, kidnapping, and torture of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
