The US Federal Reserve Has Cut Rates For The Second Time In A Row

The U.S. Federal Reserve System (FRS), which performs the functions of the central bank of the country, following the results of the two-day meeting on October 28-29 reduced the discount rate by 25 basis points - to the level of 3.75-4% per annum. This is stated in the regulator's press release.
At the previous meeting, the U.S. Fed reduced the rate for the first time in 2025 - to 4-4.25% per annum. Before that, it left the rate unchanged for five consecutive meetings at the level of 4.25-4.5% per annum. The Fed's next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 9-10.
In the afternoon of Oct. 29, the market estimated the probability that the Fed would cut rates by 25 bps at 97.8%, according to data from the FedWatch tool, which is calculated by the CME exchange based on rate futures. The remaining 2.2% pointed to the option of keeping the rate at 4-4.25% per annum.
