The U.S. military in Japan needs to "go out and buy a Toyota." That's the call President Donald Trump made to U.S. military personnel as part of a visit to Japan, The Hill reports.
"Go out and buy Toyota... The prime minister just told me that Toyota is going to build over $10 billion worth of auto plants across the United States," he said.
On October 28, Donald Trump and Japan's new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi signed an agreement to secure supplies of rare earth materials and important minerals. The agreement was reached against the backdrop of the People's Republic of China imposing export controls on rare earth mining and processing technologies, where China controls 70% of the global market.
The American leader is currently in Japan on a working visit that will last three days. The day before, Trump met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito.
