Yauhen Afnagel: Lukashenko Has Very Serious Problems With Both Money And Health

The old man was cornered.

Telegram channel "Basta!" asked former political prisoner, coordinator of the company "European Belarus" Yauhen Afnagel to discuss the question of when Belarus will become free:

- Now is the time of great changes, the time of great opportunities. Something similar happened 35 years ago. Remember how the Soviet Union collapsed.

Even in the late 80s, no one would have believed in its imminent end. The situation then changed within a year. Insoluble internal contradictions, conflicts, war in Afghanistan, pressure from the West, sanctions - and the "sovok" disappeared.

Now the entire region of Eastern Europe is undergoing tectonic changes. Ukraine is successfully resisting aggression. It has managed to find several pain points in Russia and is now striking at them.

Lukashenko has very serious problems with both money and health. The other day he accused his officials of losing control; earlier he admitted that even beggarly wages will soon be worthless. At the same time, Europe imposes new sanctions and responds adequately to provocations from Minsk. This is the main reason for statements about big deals, search for consensus and other nonsense.

As recently as six months ago, it seemed impossible to release Belarusian political prisoners. Today, many are already free, and in the near future, I'm sure, hundreds of our comrades will be released from prison. This is happening because the regime has no other way out. The old man has been cornered, and he cannot count on serious support from Moscow, because the second old man has even bigger problems, because he knows that he cannot win a protracted war. Russia is unable to stand up to the West. Look at the numbers. Last year, Russia's GDP amounted to just over two trillion dollars. And the GDP of the European Union was almost 20 trillion dollars. The difference is almost 10 times.

This is a confrontation between an elephant and a moss with an obvious finale, sad for both Putin and his Minsk sponger. Therefore, a small event may be enough to trigger irreversible processes. It could be Russia's defeat on the Ukrainian front, a conflict within the system of power, non-payment of wages or pensions, rising prices, anything.

We need to be ready for change, to take power in the country into our own hands.
