Because of the death of an American chess player.
The International Chess Federation has opened disciplinary proceedings against Russian Vladimir Kramnik over the tragic death of Daniel Naroditsky.
The FIDE press service reported.
"I, together with the FIDE Board, will officially submit all relevant public statements made by Grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik - both before and after the tragic death of Grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky - to the FIDE Ethics and Discipline Commission for independent review.
At the same time, I reiterate that FIDE will take appropriate action in any case of lack of respect, public harassment or bullying within the chess community. We all have a shared responsibility to ensure that our sport remains a space of honesty, respect and humanity - values that should always prevail over hostility and discord," Arkady Dvorkovich reported.
Reminder, the day before it became known about the death of 29-year-old American chess player of Ukrainian origin Daniel Naroditsky.
Despite the fact that the cause of death was not reported, the world chess community blamed his death on Vladimir Kramnik. The Russian grandmaster repeatedly accused the American and David Navara of unfair play on one of the online platforms, writes champion.com.
The Russian published statistics of "Title Tuesdays", calling them "Cheater Tuesdays", claiming that it is impossible to play like Navara and Naroditsky consistently of high quality without help. Navara subsequently published a text about his precarious mental state, while Naroditsky complained to friends that pressure from Kramnik was having a very bad effect on him.
Kramnik, for his part, has already managed to deny all the accusations, saying that he "wanted to draw attention to Naroditsky's mental state, but no one listened to him." The Russian also said he would sue anyone who accuses him of Naroditsky's death.
