Analysts called it absurd.
Analysts of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in their latest report paid attention to the speech of the first deputy head of the KGB Sergei Terebov at the third CIS conference on countering terrorism and extremism, which was held in Dushanbe (Tajikistan). The high-ranking intelligence officer said that political opponents of the Belarusian authorities are preparing a "liberation army" of 9,000 to 15,000 people on the territory of the EU countries to attack our country.
According to him, illegal armed groups of Belarusian citizens operating in Poland, Ukraine and Lithuania are considered as the basis of "the so-called army."
According to the Institute for the Study of War, Belarusian officials "have previously made absurd statements about NATO's alleged attempts to destabilize the so-called Suzan state - and, consequently, Russia."
"Terebov's latest statements come amid Russia's intensification of cognitive warfare operations and a previous warning by Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) on September 30 that Ukraine could stage a false-flag provocation against Poland and cast suspicion on Russia and Belarus. Russia and Belarus could use Terebov's statement to justify future aggression against Poland and Lithuania, including sabotage operations and airspace incursions against NATO members near Belarus," ISW wrote.
