Tagesschau, powerful cyclone "Joshua" has hit northern Germany. The first waterlogging was recorded on Friday night, with meteorologists warning of hurricane-force wind gusts of up to 120 km/h and possible storm surges.
The center of the cyclone is now over the North Sea off the German coast and is barely moving, according to the German Weather Service (DWD). "In the district of Kloppenburg (Lower Saxony) on Thursday, strong winds ripped out a tree that fell on the roof of a residential building in the town of Lehningen. A fire department spokesman said that rescuers decided not to remove the tree for the time being to prevent it from shifting and causing major damage. Later it will be removed with the help of a crane," German media reported.
