It was also about attracting drivers from our country.

Representatives of Polish transportation companies discussed the situation at the border with Belarus with Polish President Karol Nawrocki. The meeting was reported by the presidential office, noted Most.

The situation at the border crossing point "Kukuryki" worsened after the temporary closure of the border in September. On the Belarusian side, there was a large queue of trucks waiting to enter Poland. At its peak there were 4 thousand vehicles.

After a new X-ray scanner was put into operation at the checkpoint on October 17, the queue began to gradually decrease. According to the Belarusian State Border Committee, 3,440 trucks were waiting to leave Belarus at noon on October 23.

In the course of the meeting with the President, the carriers also raised the issue of the shortage of drivers on the Polish labor market. They called for simplifying the recruitment of drivers from Belarus and Ukraine - Polish companies have been working with employees from these countries for many years.

In addition, the meeting touched upon the issues of the transport industry: the agreement liberalizing transportation between the EU and Ukraine, the European Mobility Package, financing the mandatory replacement of tachographs and environmental requirements for transport workers, introduced in the EU.
