What Sarkozy is silent about.
Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who recently began serving a five-year sentence in prison, has received death threats from an inmate.
This is reported by Reuters.
On October 21, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy arrived at the prison where he will serve his sentence. And on October 22, the Paris prosecutor's office reported that he could face death behind bars.
The day before, the management of La Santé prison reported a video that was circulating on social networks and was probably filmed by one of the prisoners. In the recording, the figure threatened Sarkozy after his arrival at the institution.
In the framework of the investigation, three inmates were interviewed, and during a search of the prison two cell phones were seized.
The former president was assigned a guard of two armed police officers for his safety, which has caused concern among prison unions.
Nicolas Sarkozy led France from 2007 to 2012 and is now serving a sentence for criminal conspiracy related to campaign finance collection involving Libya.
Sarkozy's sentence
On September 25, a Paris court sentenced Nicolas Sarkozy to five years in prison, of which one year is suspended. This is the first time in the history of modern France that a former head of state has been put behind bars.
