Washington supposedly needs those missiles itself.
US Vice President J.D. Vance has assured that the administration of Donald Trump will continue to seek a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine, regardless of how long this process takes. He told reporters at Andrews Air Force Base, "Ukrinform" reported on Monday, October 20.
"We will continue on the path of peace, regardless of whether we need a few more months, a few more weeks - or, God forbid, longer. We will continue to work on that," Vance emphasized.
He expressed optimism about possible outcomes, but noted that there is no exact timeline yet.
With regard to Ukraine's request for Tomahawk missiles, the vice president assured that Donald Trump has "certainly heard that request" from the Ukrainians.
"We know that's what they want. It's an issue that the president will ultimately make a decision on. But he has not yet decided whether to provide the Tomahawk to Ukraine," Vance noted.
When asked what exactly is holding back the US leadership from transferring the missiles to Ukraine, the US vice president noted that the president's priority is to ensure the security of his own country. He emphasized that the United States should first of all guarantee the availability of key weapons systems to protect its military forces.
