There are fatalities.
There was a serious aviation accident at Hong Kong International Airport: a cargo plane Boeing 747-481 of Emirates airline, which arrived from Dubai, after landing left the runway and ended up in the water.
According to South China Morning Post.
Presumably, the plane collided with a ground service vehicle, which happened to be in the line of traffic. As a result of the impact, the crew lost control of the vessel - the Boeing broke through the fence and rolled into the sea.
At the same time as the plane fell into the water and the service car, in which there were two airport workers. Their fate is still unknown - both are considered missing. The search and rescue operation continues, but, according to rescuers, the probability that they survived remains low, because the car instantly went underwater after the impact.
Firefighting units, medics and divers arrived at the scene of the incident. The airport's northern runway was temporarily closed, and passengers were warned of possible delays and changes to flight schedules.
This is the second major accident involving a Boeing 747 in Hong Kong. In 1993, a China Airlines plane also went off the runway at the former Kaitak airport during a storm and fell into the water - then 23 people were injured, but there were no fatalities.
The current incident may become one of the most high-profile in the recent history of Hong Kong airport, which is among the world's ten busiest in terms of cargo traffic.
