Lithuania Extends Airspace Closure On The Border With Belarus

  • 2.10.2025, 16:09

Through December.

The closure of Lithuania's airspace on the border with Belarus has been extended until December 1, the BNS news agency reported, citing that country's Defense Ministry.

The restriction will remain in place until new legislation allows the commander of the Armed Forces to close certain areas, Lithuanian National Defense Minister Dovile Shakalene said.

"We will keep a certain part of the airspace closed until we have done all the practical work. Then we will be able to close it very precisely and carefully where and when it is needed, perhaps only for short periods of time," said Shakalene.

It was previously reported that Lithuania initially closed the airspace along part of the border with Belarus in August - until October 1.
