"Neptune", "Flamingo" And Blackout In Moscow.

Where to hit to leave Russians without light.

Ukraine's armed forces with Neptun or Flamingo missiles can arrange a blackout in Moscow, even getting outside the capital of the Russian Federation. After that, Russians will find themselves without power supply for some time, and power engineers will have to figure out how to balance the system.

The Russian Federation is unlikely to be able to get power from Kazakhstan if Ukraine strikes the Russian energy sector, according to interview by military expert Pavel Narozhny. In addition, if the missiles damage turbines of thermal power plants, it will also be difficult to find them because of the sanctions. On his Facebook page, the expert specified that by blackout he means an accident that can occur when a large number of consumers are quickly disconnected and power generation is damaged.

Narozhny first listed Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil companies and noted that they were made by domestic weapons - their own missiles or drones. At the same time, the American Tomahawk missile would also come in handy, although it was created 50 years ago and it is not clear if there is a possibility of launching it from Ukraine. Other means of destruction are ATACMS missiles for HIMARS, SCALP missiles: they cause more serious damage due to the larger amount of explosives compared to the drone's capabilities. In this context, the statement of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the blackouts in Moscow was recalled. The expert believes that such a situation can be arranged by hitting not the Russian capital itself, but substations located outside the city.

"It is important that in fact we do not even need to hit Moscow directly. We can destroy the generation around it - even at a distance of 100-200 kilometers - and then the Russians will have to figure something out, switch somewhere, balance the system and so on," the interview said.

At the same time, the expert noted that drones are capable of damaging the facilities of the Russian oil industry, but do not destroy them completely. In particular, after UAV strikes the facilities are repaired for about a month, while missiles would take about half a year. At the same time, there is still an effect of strikes with available means: long-range drones with an estimated cost of UAH 40 million "burn several hundred million dollars of Russians' money."

Strikes on the Russian Federation - details

Ukrainian missiles mentioned in the interview can indeed reach the outskirts of Moscow and energy facilities located around the Russian capital. From Moscow to Ukraine's borders is about 600 km, while the Flamingo missile is capable of hitting the Russian Federation at a distance of 3,000 km, and the Neptune missile - from 200 km to 1,000 km (depending on the modification).

It should be noted that the Defense Forces have already staged blackouts after strikes on the Russian Federation. We are talking about the incident in Belgorod, which took place on September 28. The governor of the Belgorod region said that after the shelling, a heating plant was damaged and a significant part of consumers were without light. The distance from Belgorod to Ukraine's borders is about 30 km: analysts explained that it was not missiles but MLRS HIMARS that could have been hit.
