Zelensky: The Russian Army Is Now In A Weak Position

Putin is not winning on the battlefield.
President Vladimir Zelensky said that Russia is not winning the war against Ukraine right now and is paying a high price for small advances. He said this in an interview with NBC News.
"We are not losing this war, and Putin is not winning. I think his army is in a weak position right now. Because since the beginning of the war they have been able to occupy 1% of our territory, but they have lost 1 million 300 thousand soldiers. I think this is a high price for this land..... He (Putin - ed.) does not win on the battlefield, so he is intensifying air strikes," the head of state said.
The journalist showed Zelensky a graph of Russian shelling of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion and noted that since January 2025, when Donald Trump became US president for the second time, Russian attacks have significantly intensified. To this, the Ukrainian leader responded:
"This is not about President Trump. They have increased their capabilities. Because they put more money into their own manufacturing, because North Korea started helping them, because machine tools started coming from China, because the Iranians licensed their drones. A lot of different reasons why he (Putin - ed.) stepped up [the strikes]. But all this shows that he doesn't want to stop this war."
Zelensky believes that Trump should press the Russian dictator harder than he did with the Hamas group to bring about an end to the war in the Middle East.
