Eric Smith called for preparations for a new war.

U.S. Marine Corps Commander Gen. Eric Smith warned Oct. 19 that Marines must be prepared for anything that might happen in the future. A video of the remarks was published by DRM News on YouTube.

Smith attended a ceremony marking the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton.

The U.S. general noted that Marines are a warrior unit dedicated to the defense of the United States. Specifically, they have "endured the cold of Korea" and "fought in the streets of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan."

"And the next fight is close at hand. Believe me, it's close," Smith noted. - When the next fight comes, and unfortunately it will come, the Marines will be ready. Ready to fight, ready to win, because that's who we are. That's all we do [...] We are the 911 force."

The commander of the U.S. Marine Corps said victory comes "not from technology or equipment, but from the reliability, determination and character of the Marine."
