Thieves stole Napoleon and his wife's jewelry.

The Louvre museum was robbed in Paris this afternoon. Now it is completely closed for visits.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of the French Minister of Culture Rachid Dati.

She said that the robbery occurred at the opening of the museum this morning. No injuries were reported.

"I am on the scene along with the museum and police outfits. The investigation is ongoing," she added.

The thieves reportedly broke windows in the museum and stole Napoleon and his wife's jewelry: a necklace, brooch, tiara and other jewelry.

According to Le Parisien, the criminals, who gained access to a building on the Seine embankment where renovation work was underway, "used a freight elevator to get directly to the desired room in the Apollo Gallery."

Then, after breaking the windows, two men, under the supervision of an accomplice, allegedly stole nine items from the collection of Napoleon's and the empress's jewelry.
