U.S. President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky laughed at the idea of Russian Direct Investment Fund head Kirill Dmitriev to build a tunnel between Alaska and Russia, New Voice reports.
"Yesterday they started talking about it, a tunnel from Russia to Alaska. It's interesting. What do you think about it, Mr. President, what do you think of such an idea?", Trump asked Zelensky.
The Ukrainian president replied that he didn't like such an idea.
To this, the White House chief said with a smile: "I knew he would say that!"
On October 16, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, approached Ilon Musk with the idea of building a tunnel from Russia to Alaska through the Bering Strait.
He said that using The Boring Company's technology, the project could be implemented for less than $8 billion and completed in less than eight years, which would be a symbol of technological cooperation between Eurasia and America.
On October 16, Trump announced a "productive" conversation with Putin and announced a face-to-face meeting with the dictator in Budapest. He said the talks would take place within the next two weeks.
In addition, the U.S. president said he had arranged with Putin for high-level U.S. and Russian advisers to meet next week.
After his conversation with the dictator, Trump said that "the U.S. needs Tomahawk missiles, too." He also confirmed that he had discussed with Putin the possibility of providing Ukraine with these weapons.
