There Was A Powerful Explosion At A Military Plant In Sterlitamak, Russia

The city smells like gunpowder.

In the city of Sterlitamak in Bashkortostan, an explosion was heard at the local chemical plant "Avangard". It was followed by a strong fire.

It was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Administration of Sterlitamak in Telegram and Baza in Telegram.

The Sterlitamak mayor's office said that the explosion occurred at one of the shops of the plant "Avangard". "All services and agencies" are already working on the site.

The data on the dead and injured are still being clarified.

In turn, Baza writes that a strong explosion occurred in the third workshop. According to unconfirmed reports, five people were injured in the incident. Three were pulled out from under the rubble. One of the buildings of the chemical plant is badly destroyed.

A large number of ambulances arrived at the site, the search for people under the rubble continues.

Witnesses say that the city smells gunpowder afterwards.

It is worth noting that the Avangard chemical plant in Sterlitamak was founded in 1943 during World War II. It became one of the key enterprises for the production of ammunition, including powder charges for Katyusha multiple rocket launchers.

In the post-war years "Avangard" continued its activities, specializing in the production of explosives and ammunition.

Today "Avangard" is engaged in ammunition discharging, disposal of explosives and production of special products under the state defense order.
