Next year we can already talk about peace.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky believes that Russia's current offensive in the East may be the Russians' last major military activity. Next year it will already be possible to talk about peace.

This is reported by Politico.

The publication, citing its own sources, writes that Zelensky expressed this opinion during a closed-door meeting with deputies from Servants of the People. Zelensky suggested that the Russian offensive in the East, which is now intensifying, is Russia's last major ground offensive in the war.

Ukraine will have to endure a harsh winter as Russian terrorist attacks against the energy sector intensify. Nevertheless, Zelensky told lawmakers he expects a realistic possibility of reaching a truce, although it won't be easy.

Russia needs to exert much more economic and military pressure to force peace. Russian dictator Vladimir Putin needs to realize that negotiations are the only logical outcome, as continuing the war will emasculate the Russian Federation without providing any great advantages.

U.S. President Donald Trump is full of desire to stop the war in Ukraine in order to count on a Nobel Peace Prize next year, the publication writes. This is exactly what Ukraine plans to play on: a high-ranking Ukrainian delegation is negotiating in Washington to help restore energy and force Russia to peace.

President Zelensky himself will visit Washington on October 17, and will have a personal meeting with Trump there. This is why, the publication adds, Ukrainians believe that the situation may now change in their favor.
